Truman: A Self-Portrait
AVA11303VNB1, 1984

The Buck Stops Here. Perhaps this phrase, greeting visitors as they entered the oval office during his administration, best sums up the character of Harry S. Truman. His straightforward, down-to-earth qualities made him one of our most beloved presidents.

Subject: Short Life of Truman
Short on details, this little film by the Smithsonian Institution in commemoration of Truman's centennial has lots of rare film clips about him and his times. The narrator does an excellent job of imitating him too. Wish it didn't end with the end of his presidency. Truman lived till 1972 but they cut his life off in 1953.
